Overview
LaKat’s Global restorative week-long tour of Seattle, known as the “Emerald City,” is nestled between Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains. Originally home to the Duwamish and Coast Salish Native American tribes, the area became a hub for logging in the mid-1800s after settlers arrived. Named after Chief Seattle, a local tribal leader, the city grew rapidly during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897, becoming a gateway for prospectors.
In the 20th century, Seattle emerged as a cultural and economic powerhouse, driven by industries like shipbuilding, aerospace (Boeing), and later, technology giants like Microsoft and Amazon. Today, it’s celebrated for its vibrant arts scene, iconic landmarks like the Space Needle, and its deep connection to nature, making it a dynamic blend of history and modern innovation.
Note: We recommend leaving the earlier in the day on September 4th so that your flight arrives the afternoon of September 4th – early enough to join your group for the Welcome Dinner on Day 1.
